Lip

Fillers

  • What are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are injectable treatments typically using hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin to temporarily add volume, restore hydration, and refine the shape of the lips. The goal of treatment is to enhance your features while respecting the innate anatomy of your face.

  • Possible Benefits & How it Works

Treatment focuses on improving lip symmetry, smoothing fine lines around the mouth, and providing subtle volume. Dermal fillers integrate into the tissue to provide structural support. The results are immediate but settle over several days as the product integrates and initial swelling subsides.

    • Restoring volume lost through the natural ageing process.

    • Improving lip symmetry and definition of the lip border.

    • Addressing fine perioral lines and enhancing the 'cupid's bow'.

    • Aiming to preserve natural lip proportion and movement.

Downtime is minimal, but social activities should be planned with potential swelling in mind. Aftercare includes avoiding heat, heavy exercise, and alcohol for 48 hours, and not applying firm pressure to the lips while the product settles.

About

Educational information only; individual assessment is required.

  • Who may and may not suit treatment

Treatment is planned individually. It may not be suitable for individuals with hyaluronic acid allergies, active infections, or a history of specific dental procedures within two weeks. Key medical considerations include:

    • History of cold sores (risk of reactivation).

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.

    • Recent or planned dental procedures.

    • Use of anticoagulant or blood-thinning medicines.

    • Prior filler in the area (assessment of migration needed).

  • Risks and Side Effects

Common side effects include swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising. Rare risks include asymmetry, nodules, filler migration, infection, or vascular occlusion. These are discussed in depth during your assessment to ensure informed choice.

  • Urgent Red Flags

Seek urgent medical care immediately if you experience severe/increasing pain, pale/white, dusky or cool skin, or any visual symptoms such as blurred vision, loss of vision or seeing flashes.

Safety
  • FAQs

    IIs the treatment safe?

While any clinical procedure involves risk, safety is managed through evidence-led techniques, thorough pre-treatment assessment, and the use of high-quality dermal fillers.

    Is the procedure painful?

Comfort is prioritised. Most dermal fillers contain lidocaine, and topical numbing cream is routinely used to ensure the experience is as manageable as possible for the patient.

  • How long will results last?
Longevity depends on metabolism and lifestyle. Results typically last several months, but since every face is unique, exact durations cannot be guaranteed beforehand.

Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes, combining treatments is possible and often recommended to achieve harmonious results. This will be considered as part of your individualised care plan.

Can I drive or work after treatment?

Most patients return to daily activities immediately. However, you should account for visible swelling during the initial 48 hours when planning your work schedule.
